Summer Threads

Summer things, shot by Peter on an adventure in Hong Kong’s heat. I’m actually back in London right now, but by the time you read this I’ll be in Barcelona for a few days of tapas and museums with the family- I’m so excited! It’s my first time in Spain and I would love to hear your favourite spots in the city for exploring/ eating/ shopping etc.

Loveless

I guess I’m starting to blur the lines between laziness and nonchalance… that’s what summer does to you when you can’t be bothered to wear anything more than a slinky slip and sandals. Oh, and this Loveless bag by McQ which has become my vehicle of choice as of late. The perfect amalgamation of a tough-girl bag and utilitarian camera bag kind of deal, in which I can hold even the most ridiculous of summer necessities (yes, 3 rolls of film, a litre of water and a bag of Cheez-its are very much necessary). It also fills the shoes of that cool kid backpack you never had…remember how at one point your coolness in primary school was measured by how low you wore your backpack to avoid looking like a ninja turtle and probably not doing much for back and shoulder support? Reliving that with this bag and not complaining.

As far as life updates go, I’ve been interning for the past month (hence the blog hiatus) but hopefully I will be able to post more from now on…In other news, I have taken a new liking to hot yoga and muay thai, the latter of which has given me a bruise the size of Texas on my left shin though I would highly recommend both. I’ve also made my snapchat public (correction: finally gave in) and if you would like live updates of my dog you can help yourselves (or not, but my username is zosuen).

Lastly, I’ve decided that I want to do so more with this platform and have been a little frustrated as to how to do it, so I’m asking you guys; think sustainability in fashion and women’s rights. What would you guys like to see more of and how??? Help your girl out.

The Joan

Appropriately posting this after my last exam…this is my mood right now. I’ve been moving around and staying with friends for the past week or so and living out of a suitcase, hence the weird weather confused outfit. London also doesn’t seem to want to catch up to the rest the world in terms of weather (its june!!!!) so I’m happy to go home and sweat my post-exam endorphins out / hug my dog etc. Also this is my new favourite slightly awkward denim silhouette…kudos to Revolve for helping out with exam stress via retail therapy and their new denim line, GRLFRND.

Hope all your finals went well and happy holidays; to those of you planning a trip to somewhere click through here if you fancy booking an airbnb with a little discount…already planning a few trips of my own this summer.

X McQ Swallow Collection

Of course, when choosing from McQ’s latest casual wear capsule collection Swallow, your girl picks a sweatshirt. Because pretty much nothing that I can’t study in and sleep in (yes, consecutively thank you very much) makes the cut during finals week. The swallow is a recurring theme for McQueen as a brand, initially inspired by Hitchcock’s thriller for the prints in the iconic S/S ’95 show; McQueen was fond of themes that captured human vulnerability in the face of threats from mother nature. And in the below photos you will likewise see me in denial (Note: shot last week, pre-finals grind) of impending doom, hence the dancing and smiles and the like. But I digress. It was lovely to be able to work with McQ on the launch (I went to the Savage Beauty exhibition in New York over summer and have been a fan of McQueen since), especially since they paid homage to such a prominent motif for the brand, hope you likey.

A Spring Accessories Edit

I was going to praise the arrival of spring until I remembered that it hailed yesterday. Nonetheless, I’m excited to publish these photos I shot for a collaboration with Charles & Keith; the prospect of summer and partially exposed feet is almost enough to get me through exams. These photos were shot pre-brunch, post-study session and post-brunch respectively so now you all know where my priorities lie. You can shop my picks and read more about my inspirations / outfits on the Charles & Keith website here. And good luck to all of you going through (/ about to go through) final exams!!
